Growing up, I witnessed lots of gang activities, I remember as a ten … — Carlos Brown is a character that I've been working on for the past year or so. It all started one day when I remembered how young some kids were in my childhood to be so hardened. Growing up, I witnessed lots of gang activities, I remember as a ten year old kid, classmates of mine would try to recruit me into their gangs and crews. Many of those kids were either my age or not much older. Those were the kinds of encounters I had outside of my home. Inside, I was a kid. I would watch cartoons, play board games, and just have fun. I started to think about how strange it is that kids can have two completely different childhood experiences all in one go. One, their at-home life, the other, outside. I was always a fan of Charles Schulz "Peanuts" and so I thought, what would Charlie Brown look like if he grew up where I did, and fell into temptation? and POOF! Carlos Brown was born.
